The Gefinor Rotana Beirut is a nice hotel in an acceptable location 3-4 blocks from Hamra Street.  I booked through Hotels.com for a regular room, but when I asked for a room on a high floor, they upgraded me (gratis) to one of the Rotana Club floors.  They then asked if I wished to pay for the opportunity to upgrade my services as well (two free laundry items, free happy hour, access to a lounge, etc.).  I declined.  The room was quite nice and offered a few niceties: balcony, heated mirror (so it doesn’t steam over), large safe, ironing board/iron.

Why Go?Why go?

  • Its a nice hotel, within a few blocks of the Hamra Street.

What you need to know:

  • The lobby is large and well lit. Comfortable couches to sit and wait for your tour pickup.
  • Breakfast has a very large buffet selection including European and Lebanese fare, and also custom items like crepes and eggs.
  • The road to Hamra Street is not well lit at night, but it seemed very safe to me. I walked back and forth alone several times as late as midnight.
